<p>Over 700 teachers and support staff were revognized and honored for outstanding performance in the classroom and the community during the Teacher of the Year, Ida S. Baker Diversity Educator, and Instructional Support Employee of the Year Awards. The county's Teacher of the Year was also named the 2010 Florida Teacher of the Year. </p>

Program Description:
Enhance the classroom experience and support academic success through measures, including: matching dollar and technology grants for teachers and schools, and early literacy programs for at-risk students.

The grants program awarded 125 classroom, school, and technology grants -- totaling more than $350,000. Struggling readers in grades K-3 in 14 schools in Hillsborough County received more than 11,000 hours of one-on-one tutoring. These students raised their reading levels by two grade levels and higher.
