Program Description:

Meetings: USBC hosts membership meetings twice a year, attended by 75+ individuals. Publications: USBC publishes various position statements and issue papers on breastfeeding-related topics, available for download at no cost to the public. Outreach: USBC maintains a public Web site at www.usbreastfeeding.org. USBC also conducts outreach via topical press releases sent to a list of national media outlets, as well as to USBC member organizations and the USBC's network of breastfeeding coalitions. Conferences: USBC hosts the National Conference of State/Territory Breastfeeding Coalitions, attended every other year by 275+ individuals from every U.S. state and territory. Coalitions Support: USBC manages a program of mini-grants to support the work of state/territory/tribal breastfeeding coalitions. USBC also maintains a directory of breastfeeding coalitions and an online collaboration forum for coalitions to share resources and best practices. Health Care Practices: This USBC committee works to assure access to comprehensive, current, and culturally appropriate lactation care and services for all women, children, and families. Media and Marketing: This USBC committee works to ensure that breastfeeding is recognized as the normal and preferred method of feeding infants and young children. Legislative and Policy: This USBC committee works to ensure that all federal, state, and local laws relating to child welfare and family law recognize and support the importance and practice of breastfeeding. Workplace Breastfeeding Support: This USBC Committee works to increase protection, promotion, and support for breastfeeding mothers in the work force.

Program Long-Term Success:

Hosted the Second National Conference of State/Territory Breastfeeding Coalitions, attended by 295 coalition leaders from every U.S. state, as well as several territories and Indian Nations.

Ensure that USBC is a sustainable and effective organization, funded, structured, and aligned to do its work.
