Stand Down House Month in Palm Beach County, FL
    January 15, 2008
Palm Beach County Commissioners declared the month of January 2008 as
"Stand Down House Month" in Palm Beach County. The Proclamation was signed on January 15, 2008.
Veterans' Treatment Docket aka Veterans' Court
    November 11, 2011
Roy Foster & FHLC, Inc. / Stand Down House successfully assisted in the creation of Florida's first Veterans’ Treatment Docket in the Palm Beach County (FL) Criminal Justice System. It was officially established on 11/11/10, Veterans Day. The first Docket was held on 11/18/10 and in its first year alone 201 veterans affected by mental-health and substance-abuse issues related to their military service went before the court.

Veterans' Dockets help prevent veterans from cycling through the courts as they are aimed toward getting these men & women the help they really need rather than focusing on punishment. Many of our returning veterans & other veterans resort to drug use, & other behaviors, in an attempt to deal with their combat & service experience and therefore end up in our criminal justice system. On any given day, veterans account for nine out of every 100 people in US jails & prisons. In Palm Beach County alone approximately 60 veterans enter the criminal justice system each month.

FHLC, Inc. / Stand Down House will continue to be involved, including by training, overseeing, & coordinating the Volunteer Mentor Program along with the VVA, which consists entirely of veterans.
