Funding Needs

It costs $46,000.00 to run one ten week session of Elementary School PREP, our evaluated, award winning, substance abuse prevention after school program.  We run four sessions per year.  We are in the process of working with grantors in other impoverished areas of Saint Louis in which we can deliver our interventions.   PREP targets at-risk children in the 4th and 5th grades.  We offer cooking classes, yoga, weekly therapy, programs delivered by Master's level social workers and age appropriate activities designed to help re-direct and support those children most likely to fail academically.

Volunteer Needs

Annually, Discovering Options needs a minimum of 88 committed adult mentors. After screening, training and matching, mentors are guided to maintain at a minimum a twenty week relationship with their protege.
