Having founded Denkai Animal Sanctuary in 2004 with minimal resources on a shoestring, Ms. Blackburn has experience in all aspects of not for profit on the ground and in public relations. Floss has individually contributed more than 18,600 volunteer hours since 2004 through managing Denkai Animal Sanctuary, administering Sanctuary programs, providing medical treatment to the animals, fundraising, and supervising volunteers Ms. Blackburn has grown Denkai's budget from $7,000 in year one of operations to nearly $500,000 in income and assets during 2010, just six years later. Ms. Blackburn successfully negotiated and raised funding for the purchase of 640 acres of land with outbuildings, corrals and agricultural crops for Denkai Animal Sanctuary after only four years in operation. Floss has gained a working knowledge of the agricultural industry.
February of 2010, Ms. Blackburn led her team of professionals in taking over and renovating a local pet animal facility. Raising more than $90,000 in a period of three months, the team successfully completed the project and was able to gain state licensing for the facility. Under Ms. Blackburn's leadership, this facility has successfully operated in the positive since take-over and continues to provide aid to up to 60 pet animals at any given time from across the nation.
Today, Ms. Blackburn continues to reside at the Sanctuary managing day to day operations of both Grover and Greeley facilities.
