Program Description:
Our mission is to “provide a fun, unique, and inspirational experience fostering appreciation, knowledge, and care for the natural world.” We achieve this through education and conservation programs centered around our ‘animal ambassadors’ and their wild counterparts around the world.
Children and adults alike connect with Earth’s remaining wilderness though experiences at the Zoo. In 2008 alone, over 48,000 guests participated in formal education and outreach programs offered by the Zoo, and even more of our 1.6 million annual guests took advantage of our informal educational initiatives.
Each educational component––from our interactive signage to our overnight experiences––exists to inspire our guests with a single message: the vanishing natural world is worth saving.
