CEO/Executive Director Statement:

A regular supply of nutritious food is crucial to overall health and quality of life for an individual.  The Food Bank has a direct impact the health of the residents of our community by helping to feed seniors, children, and low income people.  Hundreds of families per week attend our public food distributions and hundreds more are served by our partner agencies who pick up food for their clients at no charge.  The work of the Food Bank gives thousands of people in Hays County access to almost a million dollars worth of food a year.  Support of our mission allows us to access, distribute, and develop various sources of nutritious food and pass it along to people in need.  Donations of food and money are needed year round to meet this demand.

Funding Needs

The Food Bank needs donations of food and money year round.  Donations are used to purchase food and for ongoing operating expenses.

Donations are also needed to help fund a capital campaign to build a new Food Bank facility in the next three to five years.

Volunteer Needs

The use of volunteers allow the agency to keep operating expenses low.  Volunteers are needed to drive Food Bank vans to pick up food from local grocery stores, to load and unload food, to sort and prepare food for distribution and conduct the daily public distribution.  Volunteers are also needed to man the phones, greet the public, help with clerical and data entry work, clean the facility and maintain the yard.

Request for In-Kind Contributions

In-kind donations of goods and services are always welcome. Yard work, pest control, security systems, computer expertise and repair, graphic design, and marketing assistance are examples of in-kind services needed. Please contact the staff for a complete list of needed services and items.
