Impact Statement

For ten years HCCArts has sponsored and partnered with other organizations for major Texas Hill Country events/activities, such as the Fall Festival of Arts & Music, Art in the Park, Art & Conservation, Fotoseptiembre. We also funded a 2009 Art Camp Director for the Cibolo Nature Center, Boerne. HCCArts has begun a new direction to serve a broader region of Texas. We have been named as the exclusive Business Committee for the Arts regional affiliate for the Texas Hill Country, including San Antonio and Austin  (BCA, www.americansforthearts.org).We were also awarded a TCA-ARP Grant for our BCA Speaker Series.

We were also delegated the responsibility to create a Boerne public art master plan (PAMP), which the city of Boerne provided a city resolution in support of our efforts. In partnership with Texas Trees Foundation, our fundraising kickoff Aug 28, 2010 began with the installation of bronze longhorns, by notable Robert Summers, loaned to us to attract input for PAMP and financial support for the purchase of the Longhorns. The HCCArts has also expanded to include representation on respective boards of the Majestic Ranch Art Foundation (www.mraf.org), and Kerrville Performing Arts Society (www.kpas.org). We recently assisted KPAS’ and the Boerne Independent School District's collaboration to bring KPAS' 2010-2011 world-class performance season to the Champion High School Auditorium for the first time. With KPAS no longer having their Kerrville Performance Season, we now have a Boerne Performing Arts Committee in broad city collaboration with Greg Talford, artist director/consultant for establishing a Boerne performing arts season this coming 2012-2013 season.

Our 2010-2011 goals and objectives are to continue to nurture partnerships with arts organizations, businesses/corporations, schools, and regional artists in all fields to better serve the needs of the Arts in Kendall County and the Texas Hill Country. Throughout our ten years serving the arts and artists, our goals and objectives have grown. We are now ready and are in need of paid staff and contract help. We, therefore, are in the process of submitting grants for operational support to help us achieve the vital long-range goals of the HCCArts.

Over the years, participant numbers have grown from about 30 to 250 with the most recent Art in the Park.

Program Long-Term Success:

Art in the Park has been a major success each year, drawing children and families together from Kendall County and beyond. Our vision is to expand the programs to further offer the talents of high caliber artists, performers, schools, businesses, and patrons in order to create a larger financial support base on behalf of those we serve with this program.

Program Short-Term Success:

Art in the Park as well as our other programs have generated considerable interest in supporting activities that expose children and families together to the arts. In fact, recently HCCArts patrons funded an 2009 summar art camp director at the Cibolo Nature Center.

Program Success Monitored by:

We uitilize direct interviews, surveys, volunteer feedback, attendee comments, photos and videos recorded.

Program Success Examples:

The fact that this program and others inspired HCCArts patrons to fund a 2009 art summer camp director for the Cibolo Nature Center shows significant evidence that Art in the Park attracts supporters. In addition, the phenomenal number of volunteers, helpers, artists, businesses who offer their services free of charge is evident of the program's success over the years.

Program: Art & Conservation

Budget:
--
Category:
Arts, Culture & Humanities
Population Served:
Adults

Program Description:

ART AND CONSERVATION: OUR HIDDEN TREASURES began in 2007 as a collaboration between the Cibolo Nature Center, Hill Country Council for the Arts (formerly Cibolo Arts Council), and Boerne Professional Artists (formerly Boerne Area Artists Association). The purpose of ART AND CONSERVATION is to raise awareness and promote conservation of Kendall County and Texas Hill Country land, water, wildlife and native plants. Some of these treasures are hidden away on private property. Others are often overlooked as we pursue our busy lives. ART AND CONSERVATION promotes works of art that focus on these local natural resources by giving artists special access to private land and encouraging work inspired by local public lands, such as, parks and along Texas back roads.

Program Long-Term Success:

ART AND CONSERVATION will significantly promote works of art that focus on these local natural resources by giving artists special access to private land and encouraging work inspired by local public lands, such as, parks and along Texas back roads. There have been several changes since the last show. Boerne Area Artist Association has become Boerne Professional Artists. The Cibolo Arts Council has evolved into the Hill Country Council for the Arts, to better reflect those we serve in Kendall Country and throughout the Texas Hill Country. This program will greatly enhance support of the arts and conservation awareness throughout Kendall County and the entire Texas Hill Country.

Program Short-Term Success:

ART & CONSERVATION 2009-2011: This season will significantly advance artist participation and conservation awareness throughout Kendall County and beyond. The call for entries will extend to the entire Texas Hill Country.

Program Success Monitored by:

During the Spring BPA Parade of Artists weekend, exhibit guests will sign in and vote for the People's Choice art award. Artists will be juried into the ART AND CONSERVATION SHOW, Spring, 2011, by submitting a digital image of an original artwork inspired by a public natural area in the Texas Hill Country. Artists will be urged to limit the inclusion of man-made construction, to look beyond the usual Texas Hill Country clichés, such as, deer and bluebonnets, and search out unique native plants, animals and physical features of this region. Those who are selected will then be in a lottery for private property assignments.

Program Success Examples:

Program: BCA Speaker Series

Budget:
$7,000
Category:
Arts, Culture & Humanities
Population Served:
Adults
Other Named Groups
General Public/Unspecified

Program Description:

As a recognized Business Committee for the Arts affiliate, the Speaker Series was created to showcase businesses who creatively partner with the arts for mutual benefit. At quarterly luncheons, CEOs and business owners share information about their arts partnerships.

Program Long-Term Success:

In the long-term, this program would be successful
·         if it has provided the economic environment for artists, music, theatre and dance. ·         if the Hill Country Business Committee for the Arts was known as the premiere consultant and facilitator to corporations creating corporate art programs.
·         if the reputation of the region’s creative culture was such that Kendall County and the Hill Country region was desirable both as a destination and as an investment.
·         if the art programs created help in the form of corporate legacy programs throughout Kendall County and the Hill Country region.

Program Short-Term Success:

In the short-term, success would be determined by growth in participation of the business community in Kendall County, the Hill Country, San Antonio, and Austin. That participation would be increased at our Speaker Series Luncheons, Founders Club Investments and Memberships. Success would also come in the form of education – educating more CEOs and business owners about art programs and art as a tool of marketing.

Program Success Monitored by:

Success would be monitored through sales and numbers of participants/members. Consistent feedback would also be a part of our Founders Club Meeting . . .who would serve as our second, informal Advisory Board.

Program Success Examples:

Thanks to the depth of experience of the Business Committee for the Arts in New York and 8 affiliates across the nation, we have some guidance and direction for our strategies for success. We have carefully considered their advice and will be able to provide more data after the first year of operation. The BCA agreement was signed on 12/4/09. And, for some great examples of programs created in 2008, go to www.bcainc.org and click "Case Studies."

Funding Needs

Since its inception in 2001, as a 501c3 nonprofit organization, the HCCArts (formerly Cibolo Arts Council) has been a fully voluntary organization of professionals within the community. Our goals and responsibilities have grown with time beyond what volunteers alone can do.  We are now ready and in need of paid staff, such as an executive director, administrative assistant, and contract help to advance our goals and mission on behalf of the requests of our members, patrons, and the communities we serve throughout Kendall County and the Texas Hill Country. With a paid staff, we will be able to more effectively offer new programs and proactively support other arts organizations we partner and collaborate with.

Volunteer Needs

Our most pressing need for additional volunteers are in the Working Committees--marketing, outreach/education, website management, membership, special events, events coordinator, HCCArts Hill Country Business Committee for the Arts (www.bcainc.org), and Boerne Performing Arts Committee.

Request for In-Kind Contributions

We are in need of the following product and service items:
Desktop and Laptop Computers, All-in-One Printer/Fax/Scan/Copier, A functioning vehicle for local parade use, Still/Video Camera, Phone/Messsaging System, Office Furniture, Office Supplies
