Program Description:
ART AND CONSERVATION: OUR HIDDEN TREASURES began in 2007 as a collaboration between the Cibolo Nature Center, Hill Country Council for the Arts (formerly Cibolo Arts Council), and Boerne Professional Artists (formerly Boerne Area Artists Association). The purpose of ART AND CONSERVATION is to raise awareness and promote conservation of Kendall County and Texas Hill Country land, water, wildlife and native plants. Some of these treasures are hidden away on private property. Others are often overlooked as we pursue our busy lives. ART AND CONSERVATION promotes works of art that focus on these local natural resources by giving artists special access to private land and encouraging work inspired by local public lands, such as, parks and along Texas back roads.
Program Long-Term Success:
ART AND CONSERVATION will significantly promote works of art that focus on these local natural resources by giving artists special access to private land and encouraging work inspired by local public lands, such as, parks and along Texas back roads. There have been several changes since the last show. Boerne Area Artist Association has become Boerne Professional Artists. The Cibolo Arts Council has evolved into the Hill Country Council for the Arts, to better reflect those we serve in Kendall Country and throughout the Texas Hill Country. This program will greatly enhance support of the arts and conservation awareness throughout Kendall County and the entire Texas Hill Country.
Program Short-Term Success:
ART & CONSERVATION 2009-2011: This season will significantly advance artist participation and conservation awareness throughout Kendall County and beyond. The call for entries will extend to the entire Texas Hill Country.
Program Success Monitored by:
During the Spring BPA Parade of Artists weekend, exhibit guests will sign in and vote for the People's Choice art award. Artists will be juried into the ART AND CONSERVATION SHOW, Spring, 2011, by submitting a digital image of an original artwork inspired by a public natural area in the Texas Hill Country. Artists will be urged to limit the inclusion of man-made construction, to look beyond the usual Texas Hill Country clichés, such as, deer and bluebonnets, and search out unique native plants, animals and physical features of this region. Those who are selected will then be in a lottery for private property assignments.

BCA Speaker Series
- Budget:

$7,000
- Category:

- Population Served:
-
Adults
-
Other Named Groups
-
General Public/Unspecified
Program Description:
As a recognized Business Committee for the Arts affiliate, the Speaker Series was created to showcase businesses who creatively partner with the arts for mutual benefit. At quarterly luncheons, CEOs and business owners share information about their arts partnerships.
Program Long-Term Success:
In the long-term, this program would be successful
· if it has provided the economic environment for artists, music, theatre and dance. · if the Hill Country Business Committee for the Arts was known as the premiere consultant and facilitator to corporations creating corporate art programs.
· if the reputation of the region’s creative culture was such that Kendall County and the Hill Country region was desirable both as a destination and as an investment.
· if the art programs created help in the form of corporate legacy programs throughout Kendall County and the Hill Country region.
Program Short-Term Success:
In the short-term, success would be determined by growth in participation of the business community in Kendall County, the Hill Country, San Antonio, and Austin. That participation would be increased at our Speaker Series Luncheons, Founders Club Investments and Memberships. Success would also come in the form of education – educating more CEOs and business owners about art programs and art as a tool of marketing.
Program Success Monitored by:
Success would be monitored through sales and numbers of participants/members. Consistent feedback would also be a part of our Founders Club Meeting . . .who would serve as our second, informal Advisory Board.
Program Success Examples:
Thanks to the depth of experience of the Business Committee for the Arts in New York and 8 affiliates across the nation, we have some guidance and direction for our strategies for success. We have carefully considered their advice and will be able to provide more data after the first year of operation. The BCA agreement was signed on 12/4/09.
