Chief Executive
Teddie Story
Term:
Since
Jan
2003
Chief Executive Profile:
Teddie joined Irving Cares as a staff person in August, 1996, after a 15-year career in banking and volunteering. She had served as an Irving Cares board member since 1991. She was the first Coordinator of Volunteers for the agency then served as the Interim Director in November, 2002. She was then promoted to the Executive Director in January, 2003. A lifelong Irving resident, she enjoys working with a population of clients that can make dramatic changes, and ultimately, better their lives and become productive members of society. The philosophy of helping people who live "in our own backyard" is near to the mission of this agency.
CEO/Executive Director Statement:
Irving Cares is seeing unprecedented need. We anticipate serving over 37,000 individuals again this fiscal year. Last year saw a 30% increase in unduplicated individuals served. Though the Texas economy has faired better than most states, we continue to see families who need help making ends meet. When work hours are cut back, a spouse gets laid off, or an unexpected expense such as car repairs comes up, these families will immediately struggle financially. The programs at Irving Cares are available during those times.
