Chief Executive Profile:
Jeff Woods began his career in 1983 as an Athletic Director for the Boys Club of Buena Park, California, and later served as a Unit Director for the organization. In 1988 he moved to Houston to work as the Director Operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. He accepted the position of Unit Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Nacogdoches (now Deep East Texas) in 1993, and remains in that position today. During his time in East Texas, the organization has grown to include units in eight cities in seven counties, serving 6,000 youth. He graduated from California State University Long Beach in 1986 with a bachelor?s degree in recreation administration. Over the years he has served as a field consultant with emphasis in programs, and later in resource development and club growth. He is a national training associate for Smart Moves, and the Boardroom Curriculum. He has been active in the Area Council movement over the years, and helped develop and now serves as the only treasurer of the East Texas Area Council. He also served as the first Executive Secretary. He belongs to the Association of Boys & Girls Club Professionals. He has served as a national board member of the Association, and led in creating the East Texas Chapter of the Association and the Northeast Chapter of the Association, serving as the first president of both associations. He received the Executive Director of the Year Award in 1999, and the Jim Weatherington Southwesterner Award in 2000.
