Chief Executive
Mr. Kurt Ohlfs
Term:
Since
June
2005
Chief Executive Profile:
Kurt has served as the Executive Director of PACE since June of 2005. Shortly after his arrival, he focused on launching two significant program expansions to support newly diagnosed children in an early intervention preschool and recent school graduates through a vocational day program. This complimented the existing K-12 school and 6 residential homes to establish PACE as the only agency in the Bay Area supporting all aspects of autism support from cradle to the community. Prior to joining PACE, Kurt enjoyed a successful 16 year career in technology development which began with the design of the first mobile tablet computers. Coincidentally, these tablet devices are now one of the leading technology platforms supporting the non-verbal autistic population. Before his staff appointment, Kurt served on the PACE Board of Directors. With his strength in technology operations and computer and business management, Kurt has been integral in implementing improvements at PACE in organizational management, technology innovation and market positioning. In addition to PACE, Kurt was previously involved in Generations Together, a non-profit intergenerational program connecting seniors with parents raising at-risk foster youth. Kurt has a BSEE from Santa Clara University and an MBA in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix. He has been awarded scholarships with the HP Nonprofit Leadership Initiative in 2006, the Harvard Business School Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management in 2007 and the CEN Leaders Institute in 2007-08. He currently serves on the Board of CAP-SIG. He lives in San Jose.

Program Description:
Currently we offer our youngest children our Early Intervention and Preschool Program, based at our West San Jose preschool facility. Infant-6 year olds and their families participate in a specialized program geared towards developing the essential social and verbal skills to participate in school-age learning. At our elementary school site in Santa Clara, our school-age students, ages 6-22, learn skills through a multi-disciplinary team approach, combining therapeutic, educational, and vocational strategies created to optimize the child's progress. PACE serves its adult clients primarily by providing residential care in one of our six Santa Clara County residential homes as well as in our Adult Day Program, where clients age 22-65 participate in ongoing learning around vocational tasks and community activities.
PACE provides educational services at their special education school in Sunnyvale, CA and operates six residential facilities, all serving children and adults who have been diagnosed with autism.
