Program Description:
Through experiential learning, girls develop new skills and discover personal areas of interest by earning badges, and participating in troop, neighborhood, and community service projects. Outdoor experiences such as day camping, summer resident camp, archery, backpacking, and canoeing give girls the opportunity to develop confidence in themselves physically, mentally, and socially as potential leaders and members of a team. The Girl Scout program can change the way girls see the world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment. Flexible, girl-directed program opportunities are available in many different areas of focus including: leadership and self-esteem, community outreach and education, science, technology, engineering and math, environmental awareness, financial literacy, health and wellness, and the arts.
