Impact Statement from Nonprofit
We fulfill our mission statement through our own unique
brand of development work. Our model facilitates substantive development
programs overseas that change the lives of not only the community members with
whom we work, but also the lives of our volunteers, interns, and In-Country
Directors. We take pains to make sure our programs allow the people we serve to
become self-sufficient rather than dependent upon others to meet their daily
needs.
Our unique model allows college-aged volunteers, interns,
and working young professionals to contribute and catalyze the efforts of local
partners on the ground. HELP International hopes to assist relatively
inexperienced and mostly academically trained participants to become social entrepreneurs
who understand the complexities of poverty. Our social entrepreneurs have done
on to be a force of change in everything from the non-profit world, to public
office, the armed forces and even the corporate world.
Ultimately, our goal is to provide a unique development
program whose capacity is high impact, sustainable, yet able to be carried out
in a relatively short period of time. Alumni continue to network with those in
need around the world by focusing on assisting those who have the capacity to
work to improve their own plight and those that due to war, physical handicap,
or other reasons, are unable to care for themselves. Upon completion of our
program, HELP participants often demonstrate the lasting effect of their
experience by the work they begin in their communities upon their return home.
Our alumni have gone on to start successful domestic
non-profit organizations (furthering their projects internationally), as well
as starting successful small businesses which sell products produced by community
members they once worked with, and to whom they continue to partner with. The
HELP International model of sustainable development and lifetime social entrepreneurs
is the key to our success. We strongly believe our approach allows us to make a
lasting impact on poverty around the globe that ultimately changes and saves
lives.
