Mission Statement
Vision: We have a vision of a world where all women freely make their own decisions regarding their bodies, reproduction and sexuality -- a world where women can fulfill their own unique potential and live healthy whole lives.
Mission: To achieve reproductive freedom for women, Cedar River Clinics provide abortion and reproductive care so that women can decide their destinies.
- Feminist Women’s Health Center/Cedar River Clinics is a social justice organization that combines direct services (abortion, birth control and reproductive health care), with activism (to increase access to health care and work for justice for all) and community education (to demystify health information and empower health decisions).
-
We believe sexual and reproductive freedoms are basic human rights for all women regardless of age, income, ethnicity, language, nationality, sexual orientation, physical ability, or religion.
- Abortion is a matter of personal liberty, responsibility, and conscience. We trust women to decide when, if, and under what circumstances they will give birth. Safe, legal abortion saves women's lives.

Impact Statement from Nonprofit
No matter how different we are as individuals, we all have health care needs throughout our lives. If you've been fortunate enough to have access to good care, imagine what it would have meant if you hadn't. If you've been less fortunate, then you know how uncertain, or anxious, or desperate you felt. That’s the difference that having access to care makes in the lives of individuals – it allows them to take charge of their lives.
A woman’s health also dramatically impacts the health of her children, extended family, and community.
Your gift or grant could have a lasting impact on literally thousands of women’s lives, by keeping health care and choice accessible.

Chief Executive
Ms. Beverly Whipple
Term:
Since
Jan
1979
Chief Executive Profile:
Beverly is the co-founder of the organization. She was 26 years old when she founded it.
CEO/Executive Director Statement:
Each year I attend the National Abortion Federation annual meeting to recharge my battery by connecting with inspiring clinic directors, counselors and doctors. Surrounded by activists and experts I have long admired, I realize that people everywhere now look to Cedar River Clinics as a center of excellence in reproductive care.
We have come a long way from the time in May 1980 when, with a dream of "women’s health in women’s hands," Deborah and I worked second jobs to start a feminist health center in Yakima, our home town.
In the past few years.
-
We installed NextGen, a client records database, essential for scheduling appointments, billing insurance for care, creating financial reports and monitoring trends. Soon we will add electronic health records (EHR) to complete the renovation of client record keeping systems. EHR will make medical information instantly accessible anywhere in our system and eliminate faxing or mailing medical records between sites.
-
Our testimony and complaint to the State Department of Health helped win a Board of Pharmacy rule to prevent a pharmacy from delaying or denying medications. Instead they must fill valid prescriptions. Since our clients have actually experienced pharmacy denial, we brought their voices and experiences forward.
-
We published Birth Control Comparison Chart and companion website (www.Birth-Control-Comparison.info) for teens and adults to learn about all options.
-
We earned 3-year accreditation from AAAHC demonstrating we meet rigorous national standards for quality care. We are the only AAAHC accredited abortion clinic in WA and one of a few in the nation.

Funding Needs
Cedar River Clinics makes reproductive health care accessible to women who face financial and other obstacles. Your donation makes it possible to:
- underwrite care - whenever a gap exists between what a woman can pay and what her care costs,
- pay for certified medical interpreters whenever needed for women with limited English proficiency, including language telephone lines for when she calls to make an appointment or ask questions,
- cover prescription medications and tests, including free pregnancy tests,
- pay for a motels, food or other transportation costs when a woman gets left behind at the clinic or must travel long distances to get care and cannot afford both travel and the care.
Through activism and advocacy, we raise the voices of women. Each time a woman describes the obstacles she faces, we work with her to raise the visibility of the issue and call for justice. In 2011, due to the large number of complaints from clients, we fought the harmful effects, medically inaccurate statements, and denial of written pregnancy test results by working in coalition to support legislation regulating limited service pregnancy centers.
