Impact Statement from Nonprofit
St. Francis Center has served the immediate needs of the homeless and near homeless families and individuals in our community for almost 40 years. Even through the challenging economic climate of the past years, we have been able to meet the demand for our services.
2010 Accomplishments:
Family Well-Being Program
Our guests were given a new opportunity to shop at the Pantry Service four times a week. We were able to give 12,297 families the opportunity to "shop" for fresh, nutritious groceries. In an effort to increase the quality and nutritional balance of the food we provide, we spent 25 percent more on food in 2010. As a result, we were able to provide guests with proteins and fruits in almost every grocery bag.
We added a hot meal as part of our Senior Service and were able to distribute 13 percent more food (140,167 pounds) to 2,473 guests through the program than last year.
Homeless Well-Being Program
We added two hot meals per week, seated lunch service, and served a total of 55,481 guests through our program in 2010.
