How does this organization make a difference?

Overview

Self-reported by organization

In 2010, Treasures 4 Teachers has accomplished the following:

ü Increased membership by 50% to 1600 members.

ü Increased children served by the program by 50% to over 48,000.

ü Increased sources of income by 51%.

ü Increased the amount of material diverted from the landfill to 300,000 cubic feet.

Treasures 4 Teachers (T4T) operates with volunteers, an Executive Director, Barbara Blalock and four part time employees including a truck driver, a membership coordinator, an accounting/clerical assistant and a general assistant. T4T received 9100 hours of volunteer service from corporate volunteers and community volunteers, with an estimated value of $175,175.00

The staff and volunteers at T4T create new uses for the donated materials. For example, lids become stencils, Styrofoam becomes dice and binders become clipboards. In addition, T4T is trying to go beyond developing these tools and create complete educational kits which include lesson plans set to Arizona’s Educational Standards. T4T believes these kits will save teachers both time and money while providing students with hands-on activities which reinforce the key skills and knowledge which children need to succeed. Included in this report is one example of a kit developed, Quiet Dice Math.
