Overview

Self-reported by organization

The mission of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to advocate for, support and recognize our first responders and catastrophically injured service members in honor of the legacy of Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on 9/11/01.

In addition to building custom-designed smart homes for service members, and making a significant difference in the lives of first responders and their families, the Foundation co-chaired a capital campaign for a residential home providing a temporary haven for orphaned and/or broken teenagers, committed to help raise funds to relocate an orphanage in Haiti for over 100 children in need, and led the way in restoring the lives of families devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The Foundation set up a Relief Center where disaster victims received essential food items and supplies to restore their lives, and worked tirelessly with thousands of volunteers to gut houses, provide clean up, and restore damaged homes.

Program 1

Building for America’s Bravest

Building for America’s Bravest is a program of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation that builds Smart Homes for our most catastrophically injured service members returning home. Each home is custom designed to address the unique needs of each individual. Energy efficient, automated and easily accessible—these homes use "adaptive technology" to help our most severely injured heroes live better, more independent lives.

But as amazing as adaptive home technology is, it's far beyond the reach of most veterans and their modest pensions. The waiting list is long - and for every home we build, another three veterans join the list. When the call came, these brave service members went. They made extraordinary sacrifices in our place.
