Mission Statement

The Progressive Maryland Education Fund, in partnership with Progressive Maryland (a 501c4 advocacy organization), educate and organize the public to improve the quality of life for working families in Maryland. PMEF and PM unite our thousands of individual members with some of the biggest unions, civil rights groups, and faith communities in the state. Our research highlights the many unmet economic needs of working families in Maryland; our advocacy disseminates those findings to the media and public, which creates a climate conducive to reform.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Program 1

1. Raising wages to ensure that full-time employment earns an American standard of living. 2. Public funding of political campaigns to limit the role of big money in state politics. 3. Tax fairness so that state government raises enough revenue in a progressive manner to make adequate investments in the public sector. 4. Fairness for consumers, above all by blocking attempts to weaken a citizen's 7th Amendment right to a jury trial in the event that she is injured by an incompetent doctor or hospital.
