Mission Statement

The American Trust for the British Library (ATBL) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to promote and support the work of one of the world's greatest research libraries. The ATBL seeks to promote transatlantic understanding through related events, lectures, and discussion in the USA and the UK, as well as providing incremental financial and gifts-in-kind support for the British Library's collecting, preservation and outreach activities. The Trust was founded in 1979 and is supported through the generosity of its increasingly wide membership in the United States and the United Kingdom.
