Overview

Self-reported by organization

The NECC Foundation, Inc. has been actively engaged in fundraising on behalf of Northern Essex Community College since 1996. In 2001 the NECC Foundation, Inc. spearheaded the college's first ever Capital Campaign to raise $2 million for a Technology Center on the college's Haverhill Campus. The building opened in the fall 2004. The NECC Foundation, Inc. is responsible for financial management of funds raised to benefit the college and has oversight of the NECC Foundation, Inc. investment portfolio.  Over the last twelve months the Foundation has moved the college closer to achieving its dream of building an Allied Health & Technology Building in the City of Lawrence as part of the Lawrence Campus. The new building will house the college's Health Science programs. In FY10 the Foundation awarded over $160,000 in scholarship support to Northern Essex students and over $36,000 in program and equipment grants to Northern Essex faculty and staff for needs that otherwise could not have been met.

Each year, NECC serves thousands of students in its credit and non-credit programs.  Annually, hundreds of students receive degrees and certificates and hundreds more elect courses that lead to higher levels of employment and education.  Education is empowering and has enabled students to access meaningful employment and further their education.  Within the northeast region of Massachusetts, NECC is the only community college.  The college is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
