How does this organization make a difference?

Overview

Self-reported by organization

AGMD is honored to provide service for over 22 years. We have implemented new programs such as webinars, educational materials, and various Telephone Community Support Groups. In 2012, we held our AGMD Digestive Motility Symposium for physicians, scientists, nutritionists, patients and family members.  We provide two Massachusetts based in-person Educational/Support Groups and we are hoping to broaden this outreach to those in other states and countries. In the coming year, we hope to allow for continuing education credits for physicians, nurses, and dietitians directly on our website through the University of Kansas Medical Center Continuing Education. In addition, we will be creating new programs, which will benefit patients and their families.

Principal Officer

Maryangela DeGrazia-DiTucci

Director of Corporate Relations

Matthew Petrulavage

BIO

Mary-Angela DeGrazia-DiTucci was diagnosed with a rare digestive motility disease (chronic idiopathic intestinal pseudo-obstruction) in 1979. Since that time her disease has progressed to include multiple digestive motility diseases including gastroparesis, gastroesophageal reflux diseases, achalasia, diffuse esophageal spasm and dysphagia. In addition she suffers from a myriad of other medical diseases. In 1991 she founded AGMD in order to help others suffering from these diseases and disorders and to educate, draw more awareness, and promote further treatments and research in this specialized field of gastroenterology.

STATEMENT FROM THE Principal Officer

"It is a privilege for me to be able to serve and help so many patients and families who are greatly impacted by digestive motility diseases and disorders.  As a longtime patient with multiple digestive motility disorders and many other related diseases, I can understand so much about what others are going through. I am humbled by each of the stories and honored to be able to provide them with some hope and help."
