Mission Statement

The Winchester Foundation for Educational Excellence raises and grants private funds to support and encourage innovation and excllence in Winchester public schools through initiatives that are beyond the reach of available public funds.

 

The Foundation seeks to fund teacher-driven educational initiatives that:

Enrich teaching, learning, professional development, and student growth and development across the Winchester public school system;

Benefit a signficant number of students;

Reinforce and enchance the goals and objectives of the Winchester Public School system;

Encourage leadership, creativity and collaboration;

Seed new approaches that launch long-term, sef-sustaining improvements in our schools.

Thanks to the generosity of its supporters, WFEE has donated nearly $2 million dollars to the Winchester public schools since 2003.

 

During the 2009-2010 school year WFEE's grant program is providing $110,000 to teachers in pursuit of excellence in the classroom. The Foundation is providing an additional $50,000 in professional development funds to further integrate technology into Winchester classrooms.

To promote innovative professional development for teachers outside the scope of that provided by the Winchester school department;

To provide opportunities for teachers to challenge themselves; expand their knowledge and skills and share new discoveries in teaching;

To support life long learning for teachers, administrators and staff.

Purchased lap top computers for elementary teachers, grades 1-5;

Provided major funding to support the wireless environment at WHS, allowing for LCD projectors in all classrooms.
