Program 1

The Coalition focuses on four areas. Visibility. We raise awareness about the challenges children have in accessing health care and the effective solutions that school-based health centers (SBHCs) provide. Currently, we are developing a web site, an ad campaign, and appropriate print materials and strategies for distribution. Effective Systems. We strengthen the efficacy of the SBHC model by facilitating solutions to problems that commonly face the clinics. We create forums for members to network with and mentor each other. We broker independent strategies to global challenges to the centers, e.g. dealing with the ubiquitously complex insurance system. Education. We hold an annual statewide conference and smaller trainings to get members the information they need to be effective. We broaden the context within which the centers see themselves, so they can effectively communicate in a variety of arenas. Research. We promote research and evaluation of the SBHC model.
