Mission Statement

SGF's purpose is to do some of the good Steve would have done, if only he had lived. Working with summer camps, domestic violence agencies and child protective services agencies, we fund scholarships for disadvantaged children for whom summer camp is not a luxury but a necessity.

Since its inception in 2001, SGF has provided over $200,000 in summer camp scholarship assistance for deserving children whose circumstances fit within our mission.  Since SGF is an all-volunteer organization, nearly every penny that is raised goes directly to support summer camp scholarships for deserving children.

Program 1

In two years, we have raised over $220,000 to endow camp scholarships; our goal is a $1 million endowment. Beneficiaries include children exposed to domestic violence and abuse, refugees, and homeless children. To date, over $20,000 of the endowed funds has been expended on scholarships.

Dr. Alpert is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Domestic Violence and has been recognized by the AMA and others for her work educating health care providers on their pivotal role in combating this major public health menace. More importantly, she is the mother of Steve Glidden, after whom the foundation is named.
