Bridges Community Development Center programs include the YES Initiative - an after school diversion program for young males 12 to 18 years old, the CEO Project - a summer leadership program for high school students to develop future leaders and help them discover the importance being active citizens, and the Community Outreach Program - this outreach program seeks to build and promote fundamental family principles, using established private and corporate partnerships including community meetings entitled Family Reconnecting Hour for building family structure with discussions on education, health care, and life skills

Executive Director of Bridges Community Development Center Dennis L. Dorsey has served as founding Executive Director of Bridges Community Development Center (BCDC), a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, since it launched operations in 2003. Mr. Dorsey has the ability to take a given situation, assess the problem, and develop a strategic, logical, methodical plan of action. Mr. Dorsey believes in the age-old saying, ?luck is when preparation meets opportunity.? Thus, he challenges individuals with the phrase ?What are you prepared to do?? Why Bridges Development Community Center? Mr. Dorsey established BCDC to expand the academic enrichment, cultural, and recreational programs of middle school and high school youths. Mr. Dorsey creates and oversees initiatives that strengthen individuals, families, and communities while inspiring youth to pursue and achieve their purpose in life. Under his guidance, BCDC has grown in size, reach, and influence, gaining local and county-wide recognition for its dynamic and cohesive community initiatives. What is his Professional Experience? Prior to BCDC, Mr. Dorsey spent five years with the United States Patent Office as a Patent Examiner. In addition to his full-time duties of reviewing applications for patent approval, Mr. Dorsey devoted much of his time advocating for youth and community improvement and educating people about opportunities and resources: ?Connecting People and Promise?. Mr. Dorsey has held numerous volunteer positions with diverse organizations including: Vice President of Arundel Recreation Association, member of the Economic Development Committee of the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, member of the Greater Odenton Improvement Association (GOIA), Board Member of the YWCA West County Family Support Center Community Advisory Board (CAB), and member of the Fort Meade Alliance. What is his Educational Background? Mr. Dorsey has his Bachelor?s Degree in Civil Engineering from Morgan State University, his Master?s Degree in Transportation Studies from Morgan State University, and has since pursued doctoral studies at North Carolina State University School of Engineering.
