Our teacher education programs prepare quality Montessori teachers for the classrooms, and our expanded scholarship opportunities help increase the number and diversity of Montessori teachers. As a member, you benefit directly from our position as the mainstay of the Montessori movement in the United States, and from our renewed commitment to advancing principles and practices that encourage better outcomes for children.

Mr. Richard Ungerer

BIO

Mr. Ungerer has had extensive experience leading and managing nonprofit organizations that have a special focus on education and addressing the needs of children and youth. He has headed organizations including the "I Have a Dream" Foundation, the Organization Development Network, WAVE's (Work, Achievement, Values, and Education) New York City office, the National Institute for Work and Learning, and the National Society for Experiential Education. In each of the diverse settings in which he has worked, professional membership associations, education institutions, foundations, community-based organizations, unions, corporations, and government agencies, Mr. Ungerer, an accomplished fundraiser, demonstrated commitment to strengthening and enhancing the financial stability of the organization as he brought it to its next level of growth. Most recently, Mr. Ungerer was an independent consultant in Westport, CT, offering comprehensive services for the nonprofit sector (including board development, fundraising, capacity building, and coaching to senior level executives).
