Notes from the Nonprofit

With dwindling financial support from the CIty of Norwalk, our organization strives to maintain sufficient funding for the music department's various programs, including purchasing and maintaining uniforms, instruments, and equipment. We also pay for the transportation and instruction of this 150-member marching band and guard.

Charting Impact

Self-reported by organization

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

  1. What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We strive to maintain the level of financial support required to continue with music programs in place, and allow the various performing band and guard groups to participate in local and regional competitions they consistently excel in.
  2. What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Marching Bears, Inc. conducts many fund-raising events throughout the year, and applies for grants and corporate support where possible. We aim to involve the local community in this support by publicizing and having various media covering our performances.
  3. What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Parents of current band and guard members provide services and donations to run all fund-raising activities and events that support the Norwalk High School music programs.
  4. How will they know if they are making progress?
Marching Bears, Inc. keeps an ongoing budget and report of all its committees and events to track expenses and income, in order to determine which fund-raising methods are most efficient and lucrative.
  5. What have and haven't they accomplished so far?
We have discontinued some fund-raising events that required too much man-power and time for too little payback. We have replaced these with events that reach beyond our parent group and raise more money with less time and money invested. By doing this, we have maintained the level of financial support the band requires.
