Mission Statement

The Museum of Contemporary African diasporan arts (MOCADA)is devoted to utilizing the visual arts as a medium to address, discuss and debate contemporary social, political and economic issues impacting people of the African diaspora through the creation of innovative exhibitions, public programs and community outreach initiatives. As the first and only black art museum in Brooklyn, MOCADA serves one of the largest populations of people of African descent in the United States.
