In fiscal year 2007-08 (July 1- June 30), the Museum welcomed over 2.6 million visitors. The geographic distribution of these visitors includes 9% New York City, 15%, tri-state, 38%, domestic,  38% and 62% international.  A still larger public is served by the Museum's national and international programs of circulating exhibitions, loan programs, circulating film and video library, publications, Library and Archives holdings, website, educational activities, special events, and retail sales.
