Mission Statement

The Watermill Center brings together young and emerging artists with more experienced practitioners to develop new approaches to the arts across the boundaries of individual genres, nationalities and disciplines. The Center and its programs are a physical manifestation of Robert Wilson?s lifelong commitment to nurturing the work and careers of emerging artists around the world, artists who will develop and carry forward their own unique visions, collaborate and share inspiration, thereby ensuring the future vibrancy of theater and all artistic forms.

The Watermill Summer Program

The Watermill Center offers the International Summer Program, a four week program during which up to 100 emerging artists from around the world are mentored by Robert Wilson and other established artists in theater, music, dance and visual arts. Since 2006, the Center has also offered Fall and Spring residencies for international artists to develop and workshop their own new projects in the the performing and visual arts. Watermill also offers public and education programs including open rehearsals, exhibitions, free performances, lectures, and family events such as Discover Watermill Day.
