Founded in 1970, the Council for European Studies (CES) is the leading international organization for the study of Europe. The Council promotes and recognizes outstanding, multidisciplinary research on Europe and European affairs through a range of programs, including conferences, publications, grants and awards.

Dr. Siovahn A Walker

BIO

Siovahn A. Walker, Ph.D., is Director of the Council for European Studies (CES). She holds a double B.A. in Medieval and Modern European History from Brown University, and both an M.A. and Ph.D. in Medieval European History from Stanford University. Her academic area of expertise is the pre-modern history of moral philosophy and psychology, as well as the development and organization of high medieval educational and religious institutions. In addition to her academic credentials, Dr. Walker has substantial experience working in academic administration, publishing, and marketing. Directly prior to assuming the Directorship of the CES in autumn 2010, she was employed by the Social Science Research Council (SSRC), first as a Program Officer and, subsequently, as acting Director of Communications.
