STATEMENT FROM THE co-Chair

"Guilderhaven, inc. provides food,  low cost spay/neuter, food, and medical intervention for the companion animals of New York residents and for wildlife. Our overall mission is to help the animal community by decreasing the number of unwanted and abandoned animals in New York. It is our belief that the only way to alleviate the problems of overpopulation, which often leads to suffering and abandonment of companion animals, is through low cost spay/neuter programs.

In 2013, Guilderhaven, inc. facilitated the spay/neuter of 806 cats and 175 dogs with the help of grants from the William Gundry Broughton Charitable Found, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, the Golub Foundation, and the generosity of our local supporters! We continue to speak to school groups and youth organizations, produce an educational coloring booklet, and help place animals from private homes, shelters, and rescue groups. Guilderhaven, inc. has also delivered thousands of pounds of dog/cat food, and many supplies, to pet owners and rescue groups.

The need for spay/neuter services has increased dramatically over the years. In some instances, there are additional costs and/or underlying medical issues that need to be addressed before the surgeries can occur. A majority of these medical interventions are financially taken care of by Guilderhaven, inc. Therefore, it is imperative that we have various sources of income to defray the cost of these veterinary services."
