Program 1

Summer/Fall Vocal Training

Our summer program is a nine-week session in which 32 emerging artists, with an average age range of 20-26 and selected through a rigorous national audition/selection process, receive intensive training in vocal technique, musicality, acting and career preparation. As part of this training, we produce six full-scale productions of opera and musical theatre each summer season for presentation to the public. Four are held at our primary performance space, the Oscar Seagle Memorial Theatre, and two are toured throughout the region and are also performed at our secondary performance space, the Boathouse Theatre, in Schroon Lake. Touring locations in upstate New York include Lake Placid, Bolton Landing on Lake George, Glens Falls, Ticonderoga, Chestertown and North Creek. Beginning in 2012 a post-season outreach program was added, which keeps four artists in residence through mid-October. The program brings additional touring performances to regional audiences, including in-school children’s opera programs in elementary schools throughout the North Country region.
