National Kidney Foundation of WNY, Inc. a voluntary health organization, seeks to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.

With more than 1 out of every 8 people in Western New York impacted by the life altering effects of chronic kidney disease (CKD), and another 1 out of 8 at risk for developing CKD, the mission of the National Kidney Foundation of WNY, Inc. has never been more important or more needed.  in 2009 there are mroe than 1,600 people in the eight counties of WNY undergoing life saving dialysis, more than 500 people on the waiting list for a kidney transplant and more than 170,000 people with early or even end stages of kidney disease that may not knwo they have it.  Our mission is to change those statistics through eduction of those at risk, early detection of those with CKD, and eductaion on organ donation and transplantation.

NKF funds research fellowships and awards grants for research on kidney and urinary diseases. NKF also distributes educational brochures, organ donor cards and newsletters to the public.
