Mission Statement

Tompkins County Public Library Foundation was established in 1993 in the face of declining County and State support. Private fundraising was deemed essential to sustain the health and vitality of the Library. Annual Appeals to date have focused on services and resources for children, family programming and technology. Opening the Library on Sundays has been accomplished with individual and corporate support. The Tompkins County Public Library Foundation works closely with the Library to meet current needs and plan for future growth.

Program 1

In 1993, the Tompkins County Public Library Foundation was established to assist the Tompkins County Public Library in fulfilling its mission by providing financial support and creative resources. The Tompkins County Public Library Foundation has a mission to generate support for a superior county public library by raising funds for programs and services beyond what is provided for in the county budget and by enlisting the involvement of a broad spectrum of the community. The Tompkins County Public Library and Tompkins County Public Library Foundation work hand-in-hand to bring new learning and cultural experiences, emerging technology and community services to children and adults in Tompkins County. The Foundation seeks private support through personal bequests, grants, corporate gifts, endowment solicitations, events and the annual appeal, then allocates funds to the library.
