"Everything You Need To Better Prepare for College," a 2-hour, free workshop for parents of high school students. This program provides a comprehensive overview of the entire college preparation process from freshman to senior year in high school, including financial strategies that may save thousands off of even the most expensive colleges. Includes a calculation of the Expected Family Contribution, evaluation of a student's admissions profile, and a review of thousands of colleges, all provided for free as a community benefit program entirely funded with community contributions. The Scholars Program is a comprehensive, extended guidance program for college preparation is designed to help parents better prepare their high school student for the college challenge. exploring career options and selecting colleges to determining financial aid eligibility and evaluating budget options, the Scholars Program will help determine the most suitable education path based upon the student's needs and the family's circumstances. Advisor Certification- Required training and examination program for professionals wishing to teach AMEDF programs to ensure quality of information and guidance provided to program participants. AMEDF College Access & Affordibility Alliance- A public-private sector partnership to ensure college success. By providing comprehensive education on how to improve college preparedness, and teaming up with industry-leading providers of financing solutions and advice, the AMEDF Alliance engages families directly in the fight to end college attrition.

Funding Needs

AMEDF is always seeking funding for the Everything You Need to Better Prepare for College workshop, as this program is offered free to the public.  Expenses include program outreach (printing, postage), speaker/instructors fees, program materials (printing and shippping).

All Trustees' bios available at http://amedf.org/trustees.html Gail Travers Executive Director Chairperson, Board of Trustees Ms. Travers serves as both the Executive Director and the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. Ms. Travers has served as a trustee with the AMEDF since 1998, and is the senior member of the board. Ms. Travers is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, and is a first-generation college graduate. "Being the first person in my family to attend college is very, very special. It is a dream come true, but also an incredible challenge. I made every mistake in the book and was fortunate to have made it through. Parents and students need to understand that college just doesn't happen. It takes a lot of effort, preparation, and research to choose the right college path. My experience in college makes me passionate about the mission of the AMEDF to improve college access and preparation." Besides her service with AMEDF, Ms. Travers background includes being a Registered Representative of a major broker-dealer, a licensed life underwriter in New York, and as a legal administrator. Ms. Travers resides in Amherst, New York.
