AGHPF?S CLINICAL ACTIVITIES/PROJECTS
TALA: Technical Assistance in Laboratory Accreditation
Laboratory Accreditation, as the demand for healthcare increases, the quality laboratory testing with the use of already proven methodologies to identify gaps and missing processes in laboratory systems and hence the way forward toward corrective action and accreditation, the Foundation provides periodic performance reviews for Laboratories.
LASA: Laboratory Safety.
Our laboratory Safety program ensures that all OSHA, IATA, JACHO and security regulations are ad heard to thus providing a safe working facility.
TBSM: TB Smear Microscopy:
The Foundation organizes trainings in microscopy, especially Tb smear microscopy. This training is geared toward entry level technicians and experienced laboratory personnel, needing cell credits.
R U +VE (Are you positive) campaign
HIV Screening:
The Foundation has been in the forefront of HIV screening providing thousands of free rapid HIV-1 and HIV-2 tests every year while working with local authorities to refer positive clients to treatment and care programs. To increase its visibility, the Foundation launched its ?R U+ ve? campaign as the principle driving force for testing in rural communities and schools.
LAMAN: Laboratory Management:
While most laboratories are managed directly by clinical personnel they occasionally have to interact with other managers and staff without a clinical background. This usually creates bottlenecks in acquisition and introduces logistic nightmare for both sides. We offer half day to two day seminars depending on the size of the group to help ease the working relationship of both groups.
AGHPF?S NON-CLINICAL ACTIVITIES/PROJECTS
POLI AN: Policy Analysis,
Through our Policy Analysis component, the Foundation works with local communities and government to develop Policy and programs that will be beneficial to the communities through a participatory approach. We also provide monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to ongoing projects.
ORPH CA: Orphan Care
Children are the hardest hit by the AIDS epidemic today, with an estimated half a million (500,000) living in sub-Saharan Africa. The Foundation has developed a number of small scale responses like, soup kitchen, back to school, home care, wellness program all of which ensure that this children are minimally taken care of.
MEDS DON: Medical Supplies Donation
Since, its creation, the Foundation has always been involved in the donation of medical supplies such as medicines (non ARVs), beds and mattresses, nurses, equipment, gloves, bed sheets and occasionally giving small grants of USD $1,000 to community health centers and clinics.
EAID: Emergency AID
Natural disasters and conflicts catch a lot of people off guard and unprepared thereby making them very vulnerable to abuse especially women and girls. The Foundation has always joined the quick response team in collecting supplies, food water clothing and money then making them available to in a very timely way to those in need and first responders.
