Mission Statement

The School Factory is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that helps learning communities start, grow, and thrive.

Our services include fiscal sponsorship, program hosting, and consulting. We focus on working with groups that emphasize hands-on learning in a community that's marked by a spirit of fellowship and inquiry, and that emphasizes STEM/STEAM education, creativity, self management, and/or social skills. We work to manifest the values of inclusion, health & wellness, and development of the full person throughout their lifespan.

Space Federation & Resources

We hope to attain the funding to soon relaunch our Space Federation program, which allows leaders of collaborative spaces to share ideas and best practices within a community of support. In the meantime, we still provide public access to our reference materials like the Make-A-Space Kit, which guides you through starting and growing a collaborative space.

James Carlson is Executive Director and founder of the School Factory. James has over twenty years experience with information technology in a social context, from implementation through design and architecture. James has worked with the world's largest corporations and organizations such as Proctor and Gamble, Best Buy, France Telecom, McDonalds, Sony Pictures, the IRS, and the US Army on their online global communications, marketing, and information sharing strategies. He has experience in leading both for-profit and non-profit corporations.
