Mission Statement

Laying the Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality teacher training, rigorous classroom materials, and web-based resources to improve the quality of English, mathematics, and science instruction. LTF believes that training, mentoring, and empowering the teacher corps will lead to high standards of academic excellence for all students.

As a company staffed by former Pre-AP and AP teachers, Laying the Foundation believes in identifying and empowering highly effective teachers to become trainers and mentors for other districts.  Through our train-the-trainer program and partnerships with affiliate organizations, LTF is building a corps of experienced trainers across the nation. Follow the links to see information about our affiliates, partners, and donors. LTF is currently providing training and resources to teachers in twelve states:  Arkansas, Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Virginia. In 2010 LTF will introduced new online resources including LTF Learning Communities, the Effective Teacher Network, online student assessments, data portals and resources for administrators.We are currenlty developing our products to reach more school districts through entering new states and further expanding our online resources to include web videos and increased social media activity.  The goal of Laying the Foundation is to become a national training company providing training and resources for English, math, and science teachers from grades 6-12 to support the development of AP programs across the country.

Program 1

Summer Institute

To complete the entire LTF training program, teachers attend one four-day Summer Institute every summer for three years.  Summer Institutes are held in central locations and can be attended by individual teachers or entire districts.  Trainings are offered in Middle School English, High School English, Middle School Math, High School Math, Middle School Science, Biolgy, Chemistry, and Physics.  With program enrollment, teachers receive a spiral-bound manual for each day, access to all online resources, and opportunitites to work with a trained LTF mentor.
