Charting Impact

Self-reported by organization

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

  1. What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our Big Holy Audacious Goal is that every Christian family stirred to adopt would not hesitate to obey God's call because of the fear of finances or a lack of understanding God's call for the Church to care for the fatherless.

    > Maintain a healthy, growing $2.5 million asset base for our interest-free loan program with continual contributions and repayments & loan payoffs from active loan families.

    > Ignite local ministry efforts (interest-free loans, adoption awareness events, retreats for adoptive families) in 4-6 key communities around the country, but providing ongoing assistance of Christ-centered families from anywhere in the country.

    > Promote and incubate proven initiatives to help Christian families raise funds to help reduce the financial burden of adoption, including the continuation and replication of Chosen benefit run events (www;chosenmarathon.com) which since 2010 has helped adoptive families raise more than $1 million to help bring their children home
  2. What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
ABBA Fund's core strategies have provided the foundation of the adoption assistance for Christian families for more than 10 years:

    > INTEREST-FREE ADOPTION LOANS (available for the final 1/3 of adoption expenses; typically 6-8K, and more for special needs adoptions; 36-48 month repayment terms, longer for pastoral or missionary families and special circumstances)

    > FAMILY ADOPTION FUNDS (An adoptive family can set up a Family Adoption Fund to ignite charitable generosity from family & friends to help reduce the financial burden of adoption by participate in our Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund. The funds granted out can be used for home study costs, agency fees, legal fees, travel and major medical expenses.)

    > CHURCH & LEGACY CHILD FUNDS: ABBA Fund also hosts and manages adoption loan & grant funds for churches, organizations and individuals to help reduce the financial burden of adoption.

    > SPECIAL EVENTS: From participating to hosting, ABBA Fund provides resources and relationships at conferences, retreats and fundraising events to help Christian families adopt … and serves as a catalyst to collaborate with the many ministry partners we work alongside.
  3. What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Adoption assistance for Christian families -- that's our heartbeat ... helping orphans become sons and daughters in loving, nurturing Christ-centered families. It is in a family where these children will not only experience the love of Jesus Christ, but be introduced to the person of Jesus — and prayerfully one day trust in Him so that they will be adopted into Abba, Father’s family through salvation … thus, the name of our ministry, ABBA Fund. (Rom 8:14-16; Gal 4:4-6; Eph. 1:4-6)

A 2014 Barna Group study revealed that 38% of practicing Christians have seriously considered adoption, but only 5% have adopted -- one of the primary reasons cited, "it's too expensive." Our Big Holy Audacious Goal is that every Christian family stirred to adopt would not hesitate to obey God's call because of the fear of finances.

The result is our core programs of hosting Family Adoption Funds and offering Interest-Free Adoption Loans, allowing us to help both adoptive families and the churches and organizations called to assist them in adopting.

The implementation of a successful revolving interest-free loan fund model envisioned by the founder. The model of a constant monthly amount of new loan fund dollars being available because of the repayments from families who have received loans is working -- during the past year monthly repayments have been in the $45,000-$60,000 range, allowing for 5-12 new loans to be made each month from recycled funds, as well as additional loans being made from newly received funds. A total of $6.5 million in financial assistance since 2004 has helped 1,012 orphans from 35 different countries become part of 926 Christian families.
  4. How will they know if they are making progress?
ABBA Fund's core metrics continually track the:
    > number of orphans we help transform into sons & daughters
    > number of Christian families we are able to assist
    > number and amount of loans and grants we provide for adoption assistance
    > number of events and cities in which we actively interact with adoptive families with a presence, resources & relationships (beyond the electronic connection we have in supporting hundreds of Christian families continually)
  5. What have and haven't they accomplished so far?
A 2014 Barna Group study revealed that 38% of practicing Christians have seriously considered adoption, but only 5% have adopted -- one of the primary reasons cited, "it's too expensive." Our Big Holy Audacious Goal is that every Christian family stirred to adopt would not hesitate to obey God's call because of the fear of finances.
