Mission Statement

The Buffalo International Film Festival seeks to encourage international communication and cooperation through the exchange and exhibition of film and video. The organization supports film production by providing year-round workshops and seminars to teach film and video production. The festival also serves a Cultural Tourism magnet for New York State and the Western New York region.

2011 marks the 5th Buffalo International Film Festival which will run in collaboration with the National Preservation Conference in Buffalo, NY during October.  The Buffalo Film Society (and it's sister organizations The Niagara Falls Film Society and Buffalo/Niagara Film Society) is in it's 3rd year providing monthly screenings of important new films as well as free preview screenings for the entire community. The New York State Movie Theater Corridor is now endorsed by Leonard Maltin (of Entertainment Tonight) and will be formally launched this year.

Edward Summer has been professionally involved in the motion picture industry as a Producer, Director, Screenwriter, Cinematographer, and Filmi Editor. He produced Conan the Barbarian and contributed to the production of Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back among many other projects.

"The Buffalo Film Festival is positioned to support Cultural Tourism, create jobs, and encourage economic growth. In addition to the yearly film festival, our organization gives away thousands of free tickets to the community. We are also expanding our educational events for the general population and inner-city youth, offering workshops by top industry professionals in film and video production."
