Mission Statement

Many Mayan children in Guatemala are unable to attend school because their parents don't have the money for fees, books, uniforms, shoes etc. We provide essential funding for as many as we can. We also help by supplying funds to buy thread to make Maya traditional clothing. As funds become available we are moving into helping entire Mayan villages, one village at a time.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Program 1

1. "Sponsor a Mayan Child for School" - we provide funds to make it possible. 2. "Sponsor a Mayan Child" - we provide additional funding to help the family. 3. "The Mayan Weaving Project" - we help impoverished Mayan women buy thread to weave traditional clothing. 4. "Whole Village Project" - as funds become available, we are moving into helping address the needs of an entire Mayan community, one village at a time. All of the above is in Guatemala. We work directly with World Link Partners who are located right in Guatemala. Our corporate sponsor makes it possible for us to operate with no administrative costs, and no salaries! We are uniquely positioned to effectively place ANY AMOUNT donated to help the Maya. We will set up projects for you among the Maya, monitor the project, and report the results. We can arrange photo opportunities in Mayan villages for you if you get your people to and from the location at your own expense. The Mayans are descendents of the great race that built the pyramids in southern Mexico and Guatemala. Due to a very long civil war in which Mayans were picked on by both sides, and many natural disasters, hurricanes, mudslides, floods, etc., and Guatemala's poor economy, the Maya are in urgent need of help today! Please consider adding the Maya to your giving portfolio, thank-you. Complete details are at our website http://www.orphanislands.org
