Mission Statement

A Voice Found (AVF) is a nonprofit established in 2005 to meet the needs of teenagers and young adults who have obstacles to education, training, and employment by helping them create their own visions for the future.  In addition to scholarship opportunities, AVF provides advocacy and support through individual counseling and career planning services at no cost to the participants.

AVF provides scholarship opportunities for local students pursuing specific vocational education and training in 12 career categories:  business administration, early childhood education, barber/beautician arts, culinary/hospitality services, nursing, health sciences, health technology, public safety, agriculture, automotive technology, engineering/applied technology, industrial/trade technology.  Annually, AVF awards 12-24 scholarships to deserving young people in the local community.

Our annual fund drive to raise monies for the Scholarship Program Awards is underway.  As the costs of education and training continue to escalate, the number of young people in need of financial assistance to pursue and realize their vocational goals is also increasing.

Helen serves as AVF's Founder and President, volunteering her time and talents to the success of its clients.  She has more than 30 years experience in employment and career development, human resources management, business leadership and counseling, as well as considerable community involvement on board and committee levels supporting local educational and career programs, health and substance abuse services, and senior and youth services.
