Mission Statement

The organization's charter is to create economic development opportunities in the town of Blackstone, Virginia primarily through the acquisition and rehabilitation of underutilized or vacant structures in the historic district and downtown commercial area. Once rehabilitated, the structures accommodate small business ventures initiated and managed by the organization until sustainable. The small business ventures focus on tourism potential as well as local needs, create new jobs, and partner with local government revitalization efforts in this rural community.

1. Saved 121 N. Main Street (approx. 20,000 SF)and placed it into re-use as Antiques & Crafts Mall. Brings in customers from outside the local area. Created 4 new jobs. 2. Save the Blackstone Armory - in initial phase. Working to save this icon from demolishion with community support. Reuse will provide for a local interest museum, 2 small businesses, and a Farmer's Market.

An Information Technology Project Manager. Specializing in Business Continuity and Risk Management with a Fortune 500 energy company. Extensive experience managing multiple complex multi-million dollar projects. Extensive hands-on experience, with Peter Baranishyn, in purchasing and repairing foreclosed single-family homes; and in new home construction, where they performed 75% of the activities in building their personal residence, a modern Victorian. Duties include all phases of project management (researching, initiating, planning, budgeting, etc.) and grant-seeking.
