Accomplishments 2008-2009: educational programs, dance presentations and living history events throughout Wisconsin; annual Memorial Day commemoration at Forest Home Cemetery; genealogy searches, historic research and volunteer support for Zablocki VA Medical Center; support for active-duty military in Iraq and Afghanistan; publications including The Wisconsin Homefront, My Dear Mrs. Hewitt, and an expanded edition of Out at the Soldiers’ Home.

Goals include funding a commemorative marker for the downtown Soldiers’ Home; support for Reclaiming Our Heritage; continued educational outreach.

Program 1

1. Monthly meetings include educational programs open to the public. Attendance varies from 20-50. 2. Soldiers' aid to troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Approximately 150 boxes shipped in 2008. 3. Ongoing support for the libraries of the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, including annual book sale and other fundraising efforts. 4.Soldiers Home Sewing Circle, with 15 members, creates quilts for preservation projects and hospitalized veterans. 5.Year-round community outreach presentations serve 5th-grade students and audiences of all ages. 6.Regular bi-monthly free Civil War dance instruction is attended by 40 participants of all ages. Performances upon request. 7.Research and publishing projects are ongoing.
