Orientation and Advisory Services

Our program has 6 significant components: Recruitment & Selection of Emerging Student Leaders: Outstanding student leaders of all academic majors are aggressively recruited on their campuses for participation. Pre-Departure Orientation and Advisory Services: A leadership orientation conference provides assistance with travel logistics, selecting a study abroad program, academic credit, financial aid transfer and applications for external scholarships. Study Abroad with In-Country Support: Scholars receive on-going support in the form of letters, e-mails, phone calls and care packages from BG staff, family and friends. Global Leadership Academy: Upon their return, scholars translate their global experiences into concrete leadership, cultural and professional competencies by developing business plans and managing social ventures as young entrepreneurs. Social Marketing & Community Outreach: Scholars devise and implement innovative and culturally attuned print and event-based social marketing strategies to promote study abroad among their peers. Alumni Engagement: Alumni are encouraged to recruit subsequent classes of scholars and assisted in securing leading professional, civic and educational opportunities including graduate school admission, corporate internships, scholarships and fellowships.
