COMMUNITY STORE RENOVATION

The Community Store, originally the Marttila-Pettingel-Gorder General Merchandise Store, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The building currently houses a store that serves the community. Through generous support last year, the roof on the store has been repaired. The electrical system now needs some work, and insulation should be added.

Program 3

FAHS BUILDING RENOVATION

The old Fylpaa Mercantile building, which has in recent decades housed a newspaper office and later a bar, has been purchased by FAHS. While the roof is sound on the main part of the building, other significant structural repairs are needed.

Siding has been purchased, but funding is needed for the underlayment and new windows.

SCHOOLHOUSE PROJECT

Two one-room school houses -- the Senn School and the Allison School -- are slated to be moved to the FAHS property for use as part of its museum. Currently, we are relying on voluntary donations of help to move the schools, and because of this (as well as current wet conditions) the project has been delayed. Additional funding could speed up the project.
