Mission Statement

The Gateway Community College Foundation assists the College in expanding its services to students, enhancing academic instruction and investing in Connecticut's future. It advocates for the College and creates nurturing partnerships with businesses, organizations and institutions throughout the community. It also provides necessary resources that enable the College to carry out its mission of providing high-quality instruction and comprehensive services in an environment conducive to learning. The Foundation funds scholarships for students, professional development grants for faculty and staff and programmatic equipment for the College.

For past year: Continued growth in providing scholarship assistance to Gateway students: The total dollar amount the Foundation raised for scholarship assistance grew, as did the number of scholarships awarded.$2.8 million raised for the programmatic campaign for the new downtown campus, including major gifts from Yale-New Haven Hospital, First Niagara, Regional Water Authority Watershed Fund, Yale University, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Carlton Highsmith.Expansion of Foundation Board membership: Five new members were added, further broadening and diversifying representation from Greater New Haven's business, financial, legal, manufacturing, science, municipal, health care and education sectorsProvision of support to the College as it planned for/executed its move to the new downtown campus. For current year: Continue to raise funds for the programmatic campaign for the new building.Bring the Foundation's major scholarship event, the annual Hall of Fame Induction, "in house"; i.e., host it at the new campus facility.Raise more money for student scholarships and increase the number of scholarships awarded to eligible students.Continue to explore, create and enhance community partnerships with key constituents and organizations within the community.
