Mission Statement

Our mission is to help find a cure to ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), and to provide scholarships and grants to needy students. This foundation was created as a tribute to the late Billy Lake of Havertown, PA. Billy was a 42-year old father of four children who died of Lou Gehrig's Disease in 1992. Our foundation holds several fund-raisers a year in order to raise money for research and scholarships.

1. Annual Billy Lake Memorial ALS Basketball Marathon. This is our foundation's major annual fund-raiser. 2. Annual Billy Lake Memorial ALS Beef & Beer Benefit. This is our foundation's second major annual fund-raiser. 3. The Billy Lake Memorial Summer Basketball League for Girls. Although not a fund-raising operation, the summer league provides a great venue for girls basketball while it increases visibility of the Billy Lake - ALS cause. 4. The Billy lake Memorial ALS WinterFest Basketball Tournament. Although not a fund-raising operation, this winter weekend tournament provides a great venue for girls basketball while it increases visibility of the Billy Lake - ALS cause. 5. Various events - car-washes, runs, etc.
