Mission Statement

Higher education has existed in the United States since the founding of Harvard College 1636. Although it has existed for almost 370 years, Higher Education remains one of the growth sectors in the US economy. Currently there are over 4,000 institutions of Higher Education Enrolling Over 16.5 Million Students. The Education Commission of the States projects Higher Education enrollment could exceed 27.6 million by 2015. Yet One Disturbing Fact Remains: Of the over 1.6 million new students who enroll in college each year, only an abysmal 54% of college freshmen graduate within six years. The mission of Collegiate EmPowerment is to support students, educators and institutions alike to increase enrollment, improve retention and promote matriculation through the United States Higher Education System.

Mr. Anthony D'Angelo

BIO

Anthony J. D'Angelo is a man who has sparked a revolution in higher education. In the spring of 1995, he was inspired by a vision to Take Higher Education Deeper. At the young age of 23, he left his cushy job, liquidated his personal savings, got a "grant" from his Discover Card (he went into over $150,000 in personal debt to fund the vision) and drove thoughout the Mid-Atlantic to interview over 5,000 college students and 1,000 university professionals. His goal was to gain the pulse of what college students were missing. Six months into his journey he found it. Based on his research and interviews he learned what was missing from most students, collegiate experience. As D'Angelo says, "Most college students go to college and get a degree, but not an education." From this reality he went on to create a small yet passionate educational group called EmPower X!. EmPower X! is a team of young adults all under the age of 30 dedicated to empowering other young adults. In the year 2000, Anthony expanded EmPower X! into The Collegiate EmPowerment Company, Inc. (CEC) a nationally recognized educational firm dedicated to empowering college students and professional educators via Collegiate EmPowerment Seminars, Publications and One-To-One Coaching. Since taking action on his vision Anthony D'Angelo and the EmPower X! Team has gone on to empower over 1.5 million college students from over 1,900 college campuses throughout North America. Anthony has been featured in Oprah's O Magazine and has been hailed by CNN as, "The Personal Development Guru Of His Generation". SPIN Magazine has compared D'Angelo with the likes of world renowned peak performance expert, Anthony Robbins. Today D'Angelo serves as the Chief Visionary Officer of The CEC and is the creator of The Inspiration Book Series and the architect of EmPower X!. He is also the #1 Contributing Author and Editor of The NY Times Bestseller, Chicken Soup For The College Soul. His current projects include the expansion of The Inspiration Book Series, EmPower X! and The Collegiate EmPowerment Advantage, a four year coaching experience for highly motivated & committed professional educators. http://www.collegiate-empowerment.com/core.html
